THE ACTOR'S TECHNIQUE
10 3hr classes,
Thursdays 6:30 to 9:30
APRIL 27 - JUNE 29
Building a foundation, this first phase of the work is dedicated to developing the actor's instrument through the exercises of Sanford Meisner, supplemented by those of Uta Hagen. Like building a house, each brick of technique is placed atop the other. Along the way the actor sheds habits and misconceptions. Learning what it is to behave truthfully, the actor is moving closer to acting truthfully and entering the realm of the imaginary circumstance.
10 3hr classes held weekly over 10 Weeks
Moving further into the arch Meisner's improvisational exercises, students continue to build on their ability to live truthfully while now progressively deepening their ability to do so under imaginary circumstances.

For Sanford Meisner the foundation or the seed of acting is the reality of doing. The reality that just as in life, on stage we are at every moment doing. Working this way, our emotions come freely, as a side benefit, a gift, when our attention is on something else. That something is what we are doing. It takes us out of our head, freeing us to work from our heart.
